Friends of The Michael Sieff Foundation
A great deal has been achieved since the Foundation was launched in l987 as a registered charity dedicated to improving policy and practice for children and young people in need. We achieve these objectives by bringing together people with wide ranging responsibilities for vulnerable youngsters, resulting in action being taken in practical ways.
To ensure continuing progress, the Trustees have launched Friends of The Michael Sieff Foundation, with two main aims:
- to strengthen our finances in order to grasp new opportunities
- to extend our work among decision takers and opinion influencers.
The on-going activities which blend together in the Foundation’s wide-ranging work for children’s welfare are set out on other pages of our website
Additional funds are crucial to continue to achieve the objectives of the Foundation, which is self-financing and reliant on the goodwill of its Trustees and experts who contribute to meetings at no cost. For example, we assist delegates from agencies and charities who do not have a budget to attend our conferences, because their presence is vital. We are committed to following up all conference recommendations. The Foundation invested £34,000 in the video A Second Chance, which is opening up career opportunities for young offenders. We are now preparing a follow-up video targeted at employers, to expand the first ever national training and jobs register we have launched for young offenders.
Friends of The Michael Sieff Foundation support our work for children and young people in need in the following ways:
- Making a donation to the Foundation
- Attending a review of Foundation activities
- Receiving conference reports and recommendations
- Promoting our activities.
